Solar eclipse to occur on Jan 15


Karachi : An annular (ring-like) solar eclipse will occur on January 15. This was stated by a senior official of the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) here on Friday.

It was pointed out that the eclipse will be visible from the African countries of Kenya and Somalia etc, Indian Ocean, India, Sri Lanka, Bay of Bengal, Myanmar and China.

A partial solar eclipse will, however, be visible from all over Pakistan. The partial eclipse will begin at 0905 hours and end at 1508 hours.

The experts have warned against watching the sun without proper eye shielding material.
